What language would you like to translate it into? That would be great, as long as you keep it on dA and link back to my original, etc.

I'm not sure what software you are using, but i am currently using illustrator CS3 (and about to install Adobe photo shop CS to my computer). I just need to know how you put a black overlay on the photo?

Its a great tutorial btw. :)

On Photoshop, you simply create a new layer above the rest, fill it with black and lower the layer opacity to suit your needs. I have absolutely no idea how it's done in Illustrator.

Thanks for the tutorial! I had always wondered how people make the hair look so realistic :) I fail at vexeling though so I'll probably try again later xD Tried to give my friend a different color of hair, but it looked very unreal. My pen tool also wouldn't work right. It won't do the simulate pressure thing right so I'll have to restart my computer and see if that helps (sorry for rambling)

Check the brush settings at the side, in the brushes palette. You'll need to make sure that the 'shape dynamics' box is checked otherwise pen pressure won't work - it may not work unless you have a graphics tablet, I'm not sure. Never tried without one ^^;

This was a really amazing tutorial. I'm using photoshop cs4 though and I'm having a stupidly annoying time trying to figure this out. Not so much how to use the pen and all that, but I can't get the pen to use the colors I've selected. It is white on black and then turns gold on the face of my drawing...neither of those colors were selected at all. Any ideas?

I haven't used CS4 myself, but as far as I'm aware it shouldn't be that different. If you like then I can look into it, since a friend of mine has CS4 so I could easily borrow his laptop and see if I can find your problem.

I just dl'ed the trial of CS4 to be honest, it may just not be allowing me to do things because it is a trial version. I only dl'ed it though because all I have is PSP8, and I can't figure out how to get the stupid pen tool from coloring in the shape instead of just making a simple line.

Don't go out of your way or anything, but if by chance your friend brings his laptop around, and you happen to be able to peek over his shoulder for m? I'd really appreciate it, because I have no idea what I'm doing lol.
